Showcomotion, the UK’s premier film event for young people, took place at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield last week. The annual event which includes an exciting mix of films and workshops for young people, also included for the first time the prestigious UNICEF UK Youth Award.

SHIFT Interact

SHIFT is recruiting now for Interact, a programme of mentored production training culminating in the making of a one minute digital video production. This training is partly supported by TUTV.  It will take place in Sheffield.

From 29 June, the work made by young people in Rawmarsh will be available through Virgin Media’s TV on demand service across the UK.

Virgin Media and FilmFlex Movies have teamed up with First Light Movies, the National Lottery-funded filmmaking initiative to screen Which Witch?, a short film created by local children from schools in Rotherham in conjunction with Rawmarsh City Learning Centre who for the first time, will have their work viewed by millions of UK households.

Rawmarsh City Learning Centre was supported by a grant from TUTV towards converting an existing school room into a TV studio.

Remix , a short documentary made by Sheffield Independent Film and the young
people of Sheffield Multiple Heritage Team as part of the CMA Turn Up
the Volume initiative has been selected for this year's Showcomotion
children's festival.  It has also been nominated for a UNICEF UK Youth
Award, of which winners will be announced at the festival in June.
