About Turn up the Volume
Turn up the Volume (TUTV) is a South Yorkshire based project managed by the Community Media Association (CMA). The project offers a package of support to community media groups in the region.
There are two strands of support available for groups taking part of the project. The first strand of support is financial and is administered by the CMA through the “South Yorkshire Community Media Fund”. This fund is now closed for applications. It was used to help establish and develop community media projects by offering start-up and development grants to community groups. The grants assisted with business planning, trials and prototypes for pilot ICT projects, development of community web sites, trial community broadcasting initiatives and ICT training courses amongst other things.
The second strand of support is the South Yorkshire Community Media Support Centre, which is delivered by Community Media Solutions (CMS). This service offers free advice and support for community media groups in the South Yorkshire region. CMS offer a range of support including assisting with planning and start up of new groups, developing strategic plans including fundraising plans, helping to write license applications and specialist technical advice and support.
Details of all the projects that have been supported by TUTV are available in the Project Database.
Both areas of support are only available to Priority 4a areas in South Yorkshire (as outlined by South Yorkshire Objective 1 Programme Directorate).
If you are unsure as to whether you are located in or serve a Priority 4a Area please check using the maps below. Priority areas are marked in green.
